edita question to the author of the article: in which respect was this party connected with the vryheids front? obviously, it hasnt merged into the VF/FF and still exists as an independent party (which doesnt participate in elections). --Severino 18:45, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing this out as it was a mistake on my part and I meant the Afrikaner Volksfront. Keresaspa 14:01, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
Notable inaccurate statements.
editThere are some notable inaccuracies here as the Boerestaat Party was in fact founded in 1986: a full two years before the article erroneously alleges. Also: this was not the first time that a group was calling for the restoration of the Boer Republics as a group of Anglo-Boer War era Generals were calling for the restoration of the Boer Republics in 1914 during the Maritz Rebellion & even attempted to do so by force of arms only to be put down by the South African regime & jailed. Neither was it a second time because by the time the BSP came along it was at least the third time that a group was calling for the restoration of the Boer Republics because there was ANOTHER time prior - during the 1940s when 300 000 to 500 000 people were calling for the restoration of the Boer Republics with the Ossewa Branwag being notable among those calling for such. The Boer Republics almost were restored during the 1940s due to the mass support among the Boer population for such but it was vehemently opposed by the Afrikaner establishment [ which stood to lose quite a lot as they are not of Boer descent but of the Cape Dutch which became financially established in Johannesburg ] including D F Malan [ a Cape Dutch descended Afrikaner ] who helped to break up this Boer Republican movement so as to grow his new reorganized political party by co-opting the Boer Republicans while also trying to prevent South Africa from becoming a republic.
