Copying in this article

edit

Drewmutt, I must apologise, I was looking at this page and about to accept it (with reservations), and then was called away (rainstorm). There is (or was) copying of two kinds here, both of them acceptable but requiring attention – the new editor was probably not aware of our attribution requirements. Attribution is needed for:

  • the content translated from the corresponding article on nl.wp. This is best provided using a {{translated page}} template, placed here on the talk-page. Holapaco77, please ping me here if you have any difficulty with that.
  • the content copied from eur-lex.europa.eu, which is not a copyright violation – please see this clear statement of permission. I'd like to be able to say how to provide the attribution, but I don't know – while there's no doubt that it's OK to use, there's no indication of what licence applies.

There'sNoTime, unless you disagree with my reading of that page, could you perhaps un-revdel those revisions so that the content can be restored? Meanwhile, I'll ask what form the attribution should take. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:53, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Justlettersandnumbers: Heya there, hopefully you're nice and dry now! Yeah, I saw it got kicked over to draft, but seems there was enough improvement to approve it. Oh and I had doubts on the copy vio bit, so erred on safety, happy to be wrong about it and get There'sNoTime to do his un-rev-del (rev-un-del?). Anywho, thanks for bringing this to my attention, and grab some crackers, cuz this cheese looks pretty good! Drewmutt (^ᴥ^) talk 20:10, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Justlettersandnumbers and Drewmutt: I've removed the revision deletion on this article, but that thread isn't looking overly promising.. - TNT 💖 20:15, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, everyone, this seems to be sorting itself out! There'sNoTime, I'm optimistic about the thread: if Hut is right that binding law (of any country) is PD in the US then that attribution would suffice; my own inclination is always to try to respect local as well as US law wherever possible, so I like the {{Free-content attribution}} suggestion. I'm usually dead against incorporating PD content into articles, mostly because of problems of tone, but in this case I found it unobtrusive; Drewmutt, do you feel like restoring it to the page? Let's see, cheese, biscuits ... aren't we missing something beginning with "b", foaming in a tall glass? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:46, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Buffalo?

edit

This article is referring to a type of cheese with a PDO, indicating that it must come from the Netherlands. Now I'm Dutch and lived all over the country for 27 years, and I've only seen a few buffalo's in petting zoo's. I understand that there are some buffalo farms in the country dedicated to the production of mozzarella. Several of the Dutch cheese PDO do state that it has to be made with cow's milk, and I know that it is not mentioned with boerenkaas. However, then the list could continue to name milkable mammals. 90.255.51.198 (talk) 03:22, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

It's written so in the Commission Regulation (EC) No 977/2009: “Boerenkaas” is a (semi-)hard cheese made from raw milk from cattle, goats, sheep or buffalo.--Holapaco77 (talk) 19:55, 20 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for clarifying this. 90.255.51.198 (talk) 01:28, 9 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
