Two of the pictures of Brown Willy appear to be of Rough TorDonkfest1 (talk) 17:14, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

I don't know that part of Bodmin, so can't comment on the accuracy of the pics, but Interestingly both the brown willy and king arthur pics had incorrect coordinates (pointing to Glossop) which I have now removed. If the coords are wrong then it is feasible that the topic could be wrong. Any experts / locals care to comment? --Simple Bob (talk) 17:32, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Country

Ok, this has gone on long enough. Consensus has agreed that the term Cornwall, England, United Kingdom is the best way to describe a location in Cornwall. It has been discussed on other articles (Cornwall, Truro, to name just two), obviously a few years ago though, so you will have to go quite far back on the history to find it. Bainseyy (talk) 13:25, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

So why do you revert to simply "Cornwall, England" at Brown Willy, when you know full well that someone was blocked for doing exactly that? Why didn't you employ this consensus? Anyway, I don't think anyone believes that the hopelessly clunky "Cornwall, England, UK" version is the best way to describe it - it's the just the only thing English nationalists will accept without endless edit warring. • "Cornwall, England, United Kingdom" manages to irk both the English nationalists and the Cornish nationalists equally, without unduly offending the rest of the world. There's a link to some of the previous discussions from the Cornwall Wiki-project. The formulation is fairly stable, but every 6 months or so either an English nationalist or a Cornish nationalist turns up and starts unilaterally imposing their own preferred wording. • I'll add - there is a big Cornwall Wikiproject box at the head of this page. In the drop down box within it is a link to a guideline page addressing the issue. I do sometimes wonder if there is any point continuing to maintain the project when clearly none of you can be bothered to actually take a look at it or the helpful links to rpevious discussions that it provides. I'd have thought you'd all have better things to do with your time and bandwidth than to edit-war over such a small thing. DuncanHill (talk) 15:10, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

I don't think this spat counts as an edit war, particularly. As you know, originally we were all simply reverting the edits of the blocked editor, the IP who edited solely in an inflammatory fashion. Given that we now all know about this consensus, we should concentrate on applying it uniformly, rather than on selected articles, which is what has arisen here. Are you talking about before I knew about this consensus that was reached elsewhere? There's your explanation. Re: Country

The West Country Challenge

The The West Country Challenge will take place from 8 to 28 August 2016. The idea is to create and improve articles about Bristol, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, like this one.

The format will be based on Wales's successful Awaken the Dragon which saw over 1000 article improvements and creations and 65 GAs/FAs. As with the Dragon contest, the focus is more on improving core articles and breathing new life into those older stale articles and stubs which might otherwise not get edited in years. All contributions, including new articles, are welcome though.

Work on any of the items at:

Units of measurement

In this country, we use miles and feet to measure distance and height. At most, we should provide a metric equivalent in brackets afterwards, for the convenience of readers abroad who may be more used to that system.
