Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on January 16, 2010.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that one of Bodley's Librarians at Oxford University had been in the King's African Rifles, another wrote about French anarchy, another had sixteen siblings, another used boys for routine library tasks, and another later died of a "surfeit of cherries"?

  • Perhaps link Rector to Rector#England?
  • "Oxford University Library Services" redirects to Bodleian Library, is that the best we can do?
  • Is Librarian really the best heading for the year range of their tenure?
  • "He too was given the..." only makes sense in the original sort order. Perhaps "He was the second person given the...."?
  • Ref 29 links OULS, no need.

  • Rector#Anglican churches
  • OULS used to be the name for the university's integrated library service, but was renamed in 2010 to Bodleian Libraries (note the plural), hence the redirect. Added an explanatory note with references.
  • Changed to "in office" but other ideas welcome
  • Reworded
  • Fixed, and indeed updated all the references that used OULS. No change of content.

A question; who was the last Classicist to serve as Bodley's Librarian? (we read of various firsts seconds in different fields of competence)----Clive Sweeting
