I will go and get a photo of the Lexington gallery. Would have today, but was raining all day (a tornado just came by within a few miles of the gallery, actually, I live 3 miles from it). Dennis Brown (talk) 01:19, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

Need to verify birthplace as Lexington, I'm 99% sure, all the refs talk about him being raised here, but I haven't found one with the exact date and place yet. I'm working with the awards and such, trying to trim it down to more notable mentions that the fluffy "about" pages list, while being careful to not violate copyvio (hard to do with one sentence credits...) You're welcome! Hope you survived the storm alright. I know it seemed pretty bad here in Salisbury for a little while, but it really let loose its fury right after it passed us. Anyway... You're right about moving away from the "About" page of his website. I'm sure that after enough digging we can come up with some other verifiable sources.

I think the Bob & Kay Timberlake Foundation needs mentioning for its contributions to the arts and Lexington/Davidson, but, I've not been able to find a whole lot of info on it apart from just passing mentions that don't really say much. birthplace

Sources disagree. The UNC-TV video states birthplace as Lexington.

• That has always been a little hard to pin down. However, seems to say Salisbury here [1]. Quoting from what I can read of the book: "...so Bob Timberlake has found his world of creativity in a limited area of North Carolina— in the Piedmont section, in and around Lexington where he now lives, and Salisbury, where he was born and grew up." I don't have a copy of Jerry Bledsoe's book, but searching gbooks seems to indicate the same. None of Bob's websites mention where he was born. I lean heavily to keep it at Salisbury without other evidence, simply because two books indicate it, and I think many people just always assume he was born in Lexington ("common knowledge" that may be mistaken), which may be the source for that video. But I admit, there is a chance it wasn't Salisbury. I could go to his gallery up the block, and ask, but that would be original research and not a basis to include. I know. I, too, have seen different seemingly reliable sources say either one. He is so associated with Lexington that it could be they've just simplified it and said Lexington. The announcer just read it out wrong, I suppose. However, later on in the video, it says he was born in Salisbury because of a specialist there (evidently his mother had had a difficult birth with his older brother and wasn't supposed to be able to have children again). But it doesn't suggest that he was raised there, only was born there. -- JoannaSerah (talk) 16:01, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

Ah, thank you for watching that. I wasn't up for watching an hour video right now. I remember that it took some searching (see above talk) to determine his birthplace since it isn't actually quoted on the web, just in books, of which the full text are not available online. "One of only 14"

The part about "He was one of only 14 artists chosen to depict the White House for the exhibition sponsored by the White House Historical Association" (my emphasis) looks like an author's biased reach toward exagerrated impressiveness. It was a single event at a single time, it's not as if it's 14 people across history who have been chosen for it.

The way that phrase sticks out seems consistent with the "citation needed" flags for a suspiciously fluffy unevidenced claim here and there. RandomEditor6772314 (talk) 19:50, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
