How, exactly, does this book differ from the others she has written, and why did it create a split. Is there anyone who could shed some light on that? - Ross Taben

I can't say anythinng official, and I can't give anything that's verifiable. I do know that when I read the book, it felt thrown together, and didn't give as much rich detail as previous Rice works. I would certainly say that the "style" is different, but I'm not an English major, so I can't give you specific reasons. As for the "split," at the time, I remember some fans who speculated that the book had actually been written by Rice's husband, Stan. I think he died shortly after. I've removed the statement that this book differs in style, and split fan opinion.
