Exhibit section
editWhat would be the best way to format the various exhibits within the Discovery Center? The way it is now looks a bit confusing even to me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Dolph72 16:24, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
I have started revising this section.
- Added an unreferenced tag. This section is completely unreferenced, and just saying in an edit note that you can find it on the Web site is not adequate. You must point to it in the article. (see WP:CITE)
- Turning lists into paragraph format. This makes the whole article more compact vertically and easier to scan.
- Removing capitalization of animals in narrative per WP:MOS.
- Removing duplication. The animals in the Big Cat Complex were actually listed three times (and linked twice).
Done I will try to get around to finishing up soon, unless someone else gets to it first. Lists of animals in the zoo are not really an important part of an article about the zoo itself (which this is).
In any zoo, the list of animals is constantly changing, and generally only the major animals can be verified without original research (seeWP:OR). More descriptive text about the exhibit itself, or even better, photos of the exhibits (not just animal portraits) would be much more helpful to the reader. Tourist information
editThis article is full of information that will be constantly changing (not encyclopedic -- see WP:Encyclopedic) and will be different just about every time someone goes to verify it. This information belongs on the Website (which we point to) and really should stay there (WP is not a travel guide or a schedule for a local institution). For instance, you can't possibly have a complete animal list that stays up to date (animals come and go all the time at any zoo), and a list of special events with actual dates is guaranteed to be out of date practically before the ink dries. Animal lists should be limited to the major animals (think "animals that are identified on the zoo map") and special events to those that are annual (and for which we do not include actual dates).
