Blanche d'alpuget talked about this article edit

I just turned on the TV to see Blanche d'Alpuget discussing her biography on Wikipedia on the ABC TV programme - Q&A. She complained for a couple of minutes about mistakes in the article - specifically how we say she "had an affair" - and that the article was "crass". Also, apparently we credit her with a book she hadn't written.

But! She's just written a new book "on longing" where she has put a lot of personal information apparently. She said that she did this to set the record straight after wikipedia. The point was made a couple of times (on prime time tv) that her reading her wikipedia article was the reason she decided to share her life more openly. Whether this was a good or a bad thing was left open.

here's the show video on the ABC website: http://www.abc.net.au/tv/qanda/txt/s2335904.htm

I saw it too, and I've since referenced as much as I can. Anything personal that is mentioned here is now tied to published interviews including ones she has given. I feel like posting her a {{sofixit}} Blarneytherinosaur gabby? 13:31, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Shall we change "affair" to "secret adulterous sexual relationship"? (Half joking). Blarneytherinosaur gabby? 13:35, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm. I don't think it is recommended that people change pages about themselves (or even about organisations they work for). :) And "affair" says it all. The referencing is a good start, although it seems too focused on just a few sources. Pingku (talk) 15:06, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've had some time to think about it and I think affair says it too. If it looks like a duck, waddles like a duck and quacks like a duck...
Of course I don't encourage people to edit articles about themselves, but to think she had to publish a book to set us straight!
I look forward to a better referenced article. Having edited for an hour last night, I didn't think 11:45pm was the time for me to look for further sources. Anyone got a copy of On Longing?Blarneytherinosaur gabby? 02:14, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
