editApparently this page has been marked for speedy deletion on the grounds of importance/significance. The page was previously deleted in 2008, when such an action likely was justified, but i strongly feel that now this band is of sufficient significance to merit a page. The band are have become hugely popular on the UK underground music scene, and had also recently been making waves further afield, such as acting as a support act on Biffy Clyro's major european tour. Touring with an act that's charted highly in such a way is certainly one argument for the significance. Additionally, the band have just recently split up - so i expect there to be an increase in interest from those that will be wondering what the causes and consequences of this will be (both of which are mentioned in the page). There is also an increasing amount of music that is appearing on the UK scene in which undertones of Blakfish's (rather unique) style can be detected - this to me suggests that bands will soon be emerging that will have taken influence from Blakfish. I also feel, to a lesser degree but still significantly, that there has always been a fair amount of discussion on the content of the band's songs, and as such the "Song Meanings" section of this page is likely to resolve thoughts that some people may have.
But i think most importantly, Blakfish have been a pretty huge part of the UK music scene for 10 years, particularly over the last 3-or-so years where they've been one of the most in-demand live acts in small venues across the country - and this in itself warrants this page to remain.
I hope that you take all this into account. JimthorOblong (talk) 00:17, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm seconding Jimthor0blong's opinion that this page should remain.
They are signed to a label which includes Rolo Tomassi,Alkaline Trio,Cancer Bats, amongst others. They supported Biffy Clyro in their European tour. They were supposed to do shows in Japan after a European tour. So this was a band who was on the verge of maybe making it worldwide. And like Jimthor0blog said, they've influenced a new generation of bands in the UK that are adopting Blakfish's 'death pop' sound.
