Blackwood is a legend..

Why leave when you have places like the spoons or The red lion to see you through the weekend, then pop up kebab land and enjoy some authentic blackwood cuisine.

"Blackwood Comprehensive School is a local comprehensive school, with many famous ex-pupils, that is continually adding to the success of education in the Caerphilly Borough. In 2006 alone, the school has achieved many successful ventures - Welsh young enterprise team winners, Welsh young woman of the year and a maths teacher as teacher of the year. The school has strong ties with the local community and has supported charities, local and global. Blackwood Comprehensive School is at the forefront of ICT and Science development in local education, as well as having great success in many subjects, including sport, Welsh language ventures and general innovative initiatives in the field of education, in Wales and the UK."

This is a wikipedia page about Blackwood, not an advert for it's comprehensive school.

I'm not sure the current British electoral system was modelled with the demands of the Chartists in mind..

Education in Blackwood edit

I don't think it's relevant to mention schools in Fleys-de'lis, Oakdale etc in an article Blackwood, even though pupils from Blackwood might attend these schools.--Rhyswynne (talk) 10:54, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Don't talk wet - the Welsh medium schools in Flear de lys and oakdale are the main schools that cover the blackwood catchment. how relevant can you get? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.3.125.44 (talk) 22:42, 26 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thursday night high street Blackwood is like a James Dean movie and some-thing to be seen, not that many locals are out on that night. Cars from all over GB, spectacular! Highly polished, not speeding, It is like having a free car show off the telly. These young people in their cars are spending their money in the Auto Industry and not in the pubs, drink/driving. I commend them. Racers excluded. Well not on the highways!anyway. And while I'am here, Blackwood Comp Rules!!! Susan Jefferies Class of 1968 and Night class of 2009. You can never get enough of too much education. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.241.210.239 (talk) 04:03, 24 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The historical section on Blackwood needs tightening up, much of the infomation differs from what local historians would suggest.

John Hodder Moggridge - evidence suggests that Moggridge did own local mines and the housing provided was for his workers

Oakdale not Blackwood was the 'model village'

Reference to tram way through main street has already been removed, the railway line ran bellow the main street and the tram way ran futher down the valley but never through the main street.

Please assist in providing pictorial evidence or other forms of evidence so this article can be corrected. —Preceding unsigned comment added by White.rhys (talkcontribs) 09:15, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Name in Welsh edit

If the Welsh Assembly are to be believed (and they have been known to be sometimes wrong, it must be said), looking at their road signs, the Welsh name is Coed Duon, not Y Coed Duon? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:44, 27 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
