edit

The Yabbies Motorcycle Club Curlwaa is an outlaw motorcycle club based in Curlwaa, New South Wales, Australia. The Yabbies were formed in the mid 1990's with a formal constitution being drafted in 2001 and voted in by the founding members in January 2002.

The Yabbies' territory is in the agricultural district of Curlwaa; with its borders defined primarily by the Murray River to the South, Tuckers Creek too the North with these two water ways being connected by a short stretch of the Darling River running North to South in the West of the district. The Yabbies' refer to their territory as "The Island" as it is completely surrounded by water. The local cricket team adopted the name "The Curlwaa Islanders" around the same era. The Yabbies' Club House is referred too as the "Shack" and over the years its location has changed and is usually one of the members residences. Other areas frequented by the group are famous Curlwaa landmarks including but not limited too the Little Manley Sand Bar, Two Trees, The Pump Shed, The Racks Area, and The Crossing.

The Yabbies wear a 3 piece patch on the back of their ridding vest. The top rocker reads "Yabbies"; the bottom rocker featuring the clubs territory "Curlwaa", with the centre patch featuring a blue Yabbie. The Yabbies Club Colours consist of Olive Drab, and Flat Dark Earth, with black lettering. The acronym for the Yabbies Club motto is stitched onto the front of the members vest "YFFY" or "Yabbies Forever Forever Yabbies".

Throughout the first decade of the clubs formalised existence the Yabbies' members participated in several anti-social activities which outraged the community of Curlwaa. One of the Yabbies favourite stunts was too edit the 'T' on the Tuckers Creek road sign with black and white electrical tape. The club was believed to have been responsible for most of the burn-outs and donuts performed on motorcycles down at the Little Manley Sand Bar around Easter and Christmas when the sandbar was popular with tourists.

The Yabbies Motorcycle Club Curlwaa initiations and rituals include tasks such as drinking 12 cans of Melbourne Bitter then having to pick three bins of oranges before lunch or riding along the levy bank wearing a pair of jocks and the club vest.

Rivalries with other outlaw clubs. The Yabbies tend to stick to themselves and steer clear of the politics surrounding club life. Whilst the Yabbies' have been known to fearlessly defend their turf, a pass has been granted to other clubs so long as they stick to the Silver City and Calder Highways which are the Main Service Routes though the clubs Territory of Curlwaa.

2010-Present, the Yabbies Motorcycle Club Curlwaa graduated to the big leagues of Outlaw Motorcycle Club culture whilst staying true to their roots; still wearing their Rossi work boots, Yakka shirts and even departing from typical outlaw club culture by wearing shorts in the warmer months. Expansion was never on the cards but a feeder club The Shrimps Motorcycle Club was formed in the neighbouring Town of Wentworth, New South Wales in 2018. The Shrimps Club Colours are the same as their big brother club, with a Shrimp being chosen as the Centre Logo to signify the clubs subordination to the Yabbies Motorcycle Club. The Shrimps members are typically younger blokes with aspirations of graduating to becoming patched Yabbies members. The Shrimps Motorcycle Club's members are from the Wentworth & Curlwaa areas. The Shrimps MC members are more inclined to wear Nike runners, Under Armour shirts, Gold Chains, and flashy designer Diesel jeans.

The Yabbies current Sergeant at Arms is said to have gone walk-a-bout, however still commands a position of power from afar. 2400:A847:A38:0:DD28:E6C1:5183:8B6C (talk) 07:23, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
