Horror film? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.0.223.243 (talk) 23:15, 13 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

I found the term "horror film" odd to. The film does have supernatural elements as well as its fair share of gory images, but it seems to me that its aim is not so much to envoke horror and terror in its audience, as it is to explore religious themes. It tells a story of people confronted with horrifying and terrifying events in a medieval setting in which the supernatural was an integrated part of most people's worldview and explore how they deal with these events by believing or disbelieving in God. Of course such a film might be scary, but I would think that most fans of true horror movies would find it disappointing as such. So I changed the term "horror film" to "religious drama film" as it seems more appropriate. I also removed the WikiProject Horror template.Krungadoren (talk) 20:30, 12 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I disagree, for the protagonists it's definitely a terrifying journey, and the initial impression is meant to convey that. The religious element works so well because you are expecting something rather different. While the themes explored veer the film away from supernatural horror, it's meant to play off of your initial expectations. So while it might be a religious drama as the viewer is walking out of the theater, it would be a mistake to tell people that going into it. It would be like calling a comedy with an action sequence at the end an action film. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.156.105.189 (talk) 14:05, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

It is an atheistic and anti-christian movie.- — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.29.65.151 (talk) 08:01, 22 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
