Wrong name edit

The title of this page is wrong. His name is Bjarni Guðjónsson, not Bjárni Guðjónsson.Siggi31 13:56, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bjarni GuðjónssonBjarni Gudjonsson – The WP:COMMONNAME is Bjarni Gudjonsson, per all the English-language sources in the article. Wikiacc () 15:25, 23 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose The current title is the correct version of his name in the Latin alphabet and I think transliteration should only be required where names originate in a language using a different alphabet. Number 57 10:57, 24 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. English-language sources used in the article include [1] and one that uses the acute accent [2]. Retain per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Proper names#Diacritics. DrKay (talk) 14:13, 24 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
    • Yes, I should clarify that it's not all of the sources, but it is all of the news articles. Wikiacc () 14:48, 24 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment Agree with the others above based on Wiki conventions to keep title as Icelandic name; however perhaps it would be useful to add the English translation in-text in the opening sentence? Not sure about the rules/past convention regarding this. For example, "Bjarni Guðjónsson (transliterated as Bjarni Gudjonsson; born 26 February 1979) is an Icelandic former footballer, who was last manager of KR." Is that something that could work and be helpful? This is how it is done on Eiður Guðjohnsen's wiki page RedPatchBoys (talk) 18:18, 28 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
