Where exactly did these people live and when? edit

The lede states that they originated on the Alaskan side of the Bearing Strait, and inhabited North Alaska, from the 6th to 12th centuries. But the Genetics section talks about Birnirk graves in Siberia from ca. 570 AD and 680 AD (i.e 6th/7th century). It also says that the Thule people were descended from Birnirk people how migrated from Siberia after 1300AD (i.e. the 14th Century). Does this mean that the Birnirk expanded west into Siberia, eventually abandoning Alaska entirely, before migrating back as the Thule people? If so, then this needs to be explained explicitly.
