John Carmichael edit

Does anyone have information on a John Carmichael who was a physician at the Birmingham General Hospital circa 1799? He had experimented with carbon monoxide as hydrocarbonate (gas) with James Watt, Thomas Beddoes, and others involved in Factitious airs and the Pneumatic Institute. He appears in a few publications from the late 1790s by Beddoes and Watt and in recent years several reviews by a historian.
He appears to have been engaged to Anne Boulton daughter of Matthew Boulton. Aside from these documents, information is scarce.

Carmichael made important contributions to the therapeutic potential of carbon monoxide. Would like to find an obituary or further information to start a page. SloppyTots (talk) 22:59, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
