Change name edit

  • I recommend that the name of this Article be changed to Birgunj, which is the correct spelling. It is just a matter of redirecting the page. Even the website of the city has this spelling. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Avashnirvana (talkcontribs) 00:46, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • The Devanagari spelling is बीरगंज Bīr(a)gaṃj, with no 'u' vowel sign. 'gu' would be गु . Spellings with 'u' for correct 'a' in Indian names arose from Hindi/etc short 'a' sounding like the 'u' in English 'hut' to British English speakers during the British Raj.
