Removed VFD

edit

I removed the VFD from this article. I was the one who originally posted it. The article has now been improved enough to be worth keeping and there were no votes to delete it. DanMS 01:06, 4 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Influence?

edit

Although a minor hit, people seem to remember this song, particularly its catchy "we are, we are..." bit. Should this article mention the cover version by Soho in the film Scream and the title (although not the song) was used for an episode Canadian TV show Degrassi: The Next Generation which features episode titles based on 1980s songs? Are there other pop culture references that should be mentioned here or in the main article as well? Or is that elaborating too much on a song that may already have too much written about it here? Telecaster? Rickenbacker?

This: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/lcseiler/interv2k.htm mentions that he owns a tele, but can anyone verify what's actually being played (particularly at the intro?). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.40.43.141 (talk) 13:51, 30 January 2007 (UTC).Reply

Also, in reference to a completely different work: "with Ian McNabb lending his Telecaster and Rickenbacker (and on the rousing jangle that is High Days Holy Days surely also the vintage spirit of The Icicle Works)."

Budweiser ad

edit

I remember this song being used in radio advertisements for Budweiser, around 1984 or 1985. The lyrics were changed such that the first two lines in the verse were "This bud/This bud, this bud's for you". I can't really cite a source other than my own memory and this website (and the writer isn't completely sure about it). I'm not sure if The Icicle Works actually performed the song in the advertisement. (More trivia: Around the same time, Leon Redbone appeared in Budweiser TV commercials.) -- Gyrofrog (talk) 22:32, 1 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
