Name of the Group. edit

Shouldn't it be "Billy Ward & His Dominoes"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.199.137.73 (talk) 21:51, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Umm... yes. I've changed it. Oops. Ghmyrtle (talk) 23:37, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Name edit

At what point did the band become known as Billy Ward and His Dominoes? All the original recordings I can find, including those listed at Discogs, give the name on the label simply as The Dominoes. Skinsmoke (talk) 06:33, 9 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

According to Joel Whitburn's books, the change came in mid-1952 - after "Have Mercy Baby" [1] and before "I'd Be Satisfied" [2]. They had five R&B hit singles before the name change and seven afterwards - but arguably their two biggest hits ("Sixty Minute Man" and "Have Mercy Baby") were as the Dominoes. If there is a strong argument that the article be renamed, I'd have no objection. Ghmyrtle (talk) 19:24, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure the article necessarily needs to be renamed, as there is already a redirect from The Dominoes. However, I think there should be a reference to the change of name, and perhaps a mention that their biggest hits were as The Dominoes. Thanks for getting back on this so promptly! No problem - I've added a few words, and a chart discography. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:53, 14 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Even better. Impressed. Skinsmoke (talk) 01:50, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
