'Relaxed' agricultural past? edit

I question the veracity of this somewhat sweeping comment:

Billingsley was predominately an agricultural village whose inhabitants led a fairly relaxed rural life.

How can one be sure agricultural life in Billingsley was relaxed when farms were not yet mechanized and harvests could be bad? I have raised a citation need to challenge anyone who can produce evidence to support the description. Industrialisation for many merely exchanged one form of hard labour for another (granted it may have been unhealthier before sanitation and industrial reforms), at best gave regular employment that was less dependent on weather.Cloptonson (talk) 05:25, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
