editThere is a general statement regarding Mr. Frisell's tone which is no longer correct. According to various interviews posted on Frisell's own website, he has shifted from the saturated sound to a cleaner tone using custom guitar's with perhaps a bit of delay or reverb. He stated on his website that when using compression along with his volumn pedal, he was in effect cancelling out the compression, so he cleaned up his approach and has now shifted to a less complex set up. That said, the lead in paragraph to the wiki is no longer applicable. I suggest putting the current verbiage into the past tense and adding the paradigm of his shift to a simpler set up and straight forward tone. --?
Everything on the web—including Frisell's official biography—says that Pat Metheney introduced Frisell to Paul Motian and not to Manfred Eicher—thus launching Frisell's career. Kables 23:37, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- From Bill Frisell: An Anthology, Cherry Lane, 2001:
1978
edit... Played on Eberhard Weber's Fluid Rustel with Gary Burton for ECM. This is where Bill first met Manfred Eicher.
1981
editOn Pat Metheny's recommendation, Bill played with Paul Motian for the first time. Toured Europe as a duo with Eberhard Weber. Met Thomas Stöwsand, who worked at ECM at the time and is now Bill's European agent. At ECM he also met Hans Wendl, who later worked as Bill's manager and now handles his publishing....
I would say his career was underway by the time he met Paul Motian; however, the Motian gig, a pivotal move, transformed his career from a journeyman to a sideman/partner and soon a leader. This was Metheny's contribution. I think we can safely amend his bio to include this. --User:Wayn3w 18:19, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Earth
editThe entry about Earth sounds like PR for Earth than an item about Frisell. Only three songs? The Ron Carter album and Floratone are worth more of an mention that Earth does. I recommend rewriting it or outright removing it. --Wayn3w (talk) 03:15, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've deleted it. The album hasn't even been released, so it's pretty transparently an attempt at early promotion or advertising. & Frisell has done countless guest appearances & sideman gigs, I don't see why this one should be singled out. --ND (talk) 05:45, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

editPlease place sources for the article here. The External links section isn't a parking lot for "someday". The links should always be placed on the talk page, as here. When you find a source isn't credible or it has been used up, just cross it off like this. Thank you. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 04:51, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
