I realise I review a lot of your articles- I've stayed away from this one for a little while, but no one else grabbed it. I'll stay away in the future if you'd rather have a wider influence! J Milburn (talk) 15:15, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Removed the redundant link, though I like having both terms in the prose.
  • "group consisted of large," Why past tense?
Changed
Added
  • The distribution specifies that it is found from the Mediterranean to Ghana, but the map misses out a lot of that range
Changed statement in distribution
Fixed
  • "Birthing occurs in August and September in the Mediterranean, and in September and October off Madagascar." This just leaves open the question of when it happens elsewhere- perhaps something like "Birthing has been seen to occur in August and September in the Mediterranean, and in September and October off Madagascar.
Changed to "Birthing has been reported to occur in..."
  • Presumably we don't know how long individual sharks live?
I haven't seen such data
  • "The bignose shark is not utilized commercially in Australia or the United States, where it is listed as Prohibited Species under the 2007 Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for Atlantic tunas, swordfish and sharks." Implies it is listed as such in both countries
Switched the order of the two countries
  • "The species is considered to be of concern however, given that it is slow-reproducing and faces widespread heavy fishing pressure; there is evidence that its numbers have recently declined in the Maldives." Rather long, awkward sentence
Split to two sentences
  • "it is suspected to have declined there because it is commonly misidentified as the sandbar shark, which has been severely depleted by US longline fishing." I don't follow
Expanded sentence to clarify
  • File:Squalus mitsukurii.jpg is a little confusing- at first I thought they were feeding bignose sharks. Perhaps consider leading with the diagram, and using the image of the shark from behind to illustrate its deep-water habitats? Also, the map could do with a link to the image on which it was based.
Link added. Amended image caption to clarify what's being shown. I personally prefer using a photo in the taxobox since I think you can't beat a photo to give somebody an impression of what an animal's actually like
I'll add all but the first one, which I don't find pointful since there must be thousands upon thousands of fish that are potentially edible.

As usual, the sources are appropriate, referencing appears unproblematic. There are no problems with stability or NPOV. I'm sure I'll be happy to promote once the small issues above are dealt with. J Milburn (talk) 15:34, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Let me know of further issues. I don't much care about influence, just that the review is good (as yours are). -- Yzx (talk) 18:52, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! Your replies are reasonable, and another look through the article reveals no further issues that I can't fix myself. I'm promoting now; good work, as usual. J Milburn (talk) 19:05, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the review. -- Yzx (talk) 19:09, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
