Wikification

Many of the genus names are redlinked because of the difficulty of writing about genera in this family. I think that much of the confusion and disagreement will be cleared up in the next few years by DNA studies. In the meantime, there is not much that we can do about it. Given the different definitions of many of the genera, any statement about genera in this family should be carefully checked.

Author Names

I believe that author abbreviations are an example of overcorrectness. They save little space and add nothing to the content, but create an intimidating appearance that is unnecessary except perhaps to the egos of some of the editors. Wikipedia is not a technical publication and should appeal to as wide an audience as possible. I cite A Tropical Garden Flora as a book that is technically excellent, but has replaced author abbreviations with names. I know that this has to be done carefully to avoid ambiguity. One should always check the International Plant Names Index, or Brummitt and Powell's Authors of Plant Names, or a special compilation like the one for ferns by Rodolfo Pichi-Sermolli. 98.150.181.36 (talk) 23:07, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Deleted information

The section entitled "Distribution" was a miscellaneous collection of insignificant, unsourced information, so i deleted it. In the leader, i made 2 statements about coverage in major floras. Where's Catalpa?

This huge article never once mentions the genus Catalpa (except in phylogeny tree) or the huge ornamental trees therein. Quite a glaring oversight. Nickrz (talk) 23:20, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Paragonia

The link to [Paragonia] is currently redirecting to Mesnilius which is a species of fly (not a plant). Not sure what the right thing to do is. Mcsmom (talk) 19:04, 12 November 2016 (UTC)

Lianas: Phloem arms extend downward into the xylem
