Correct name?

edit

I cannot tell which is the correct title, with or without the "?"

Imdb is without the "?" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0138956/, but Episode guide has the "?" http://epguides.com/BeyondBelief/ . It seems pretty evenly divided, but I would go with Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction (no "?") as suggested by the title credits http://epguides.com/BeyondBelief/logo.jpg

Google unfortunately does not distinguish "?" so a googlefight doesn't work --Reflex Reaction (talk)• 21:16, 9 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

TV.com lists it without the "?". TV Guide lists it with the "?". I guess the only way to know for sure is to ask the producers of the show(i'm not sure who they are off the top of my head). TJ Spyke 04:35, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

About the "Fact" stories

edit

Where can we get clear info on all of the fact stories? —Preceding unsigned comment added by El Chompiras (talkcontribs) I agree too, it does seem like this page needs a lot more information, especially

on the stories that are supposedly "fact", also the name of an apparent author by the name of Robert Traylens appears in most stories that are proven fact... (for ANYTHING to be a fact, it must be proven first) 75.172.182.76 (talk) 20:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have recently stumbled on one episode and was also slightly troubled by the large FACT tag they show on ridiculous stories. However, when learning about the source of the stories, I infered that what they really mean was that the story was inspired from an existing story (as ludicrous as that original story may also be, which can itself definitely be considered misinterpretation or legend at best). Indeed, noone could "prove" that any such paranormal event really took place. If we can find a source criticizing this aspect of the show, we could add a mention about this... 76.10.128.192 (talk) 12:01, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Has anyone found information on all the "fact" stories? I would love to read what they're based on. I have found a few through google and already knew of a couple others but most of them I can not find. Bbonds775 (talk) 19:59, 21 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

I had reached out to Robert Trailins back in the early 2000s when the show was contemporary via email, and he directed me to old at the time 30-40 year old paperbacks he had authored for more detailed versions of a lot of the stories. 2601:243:F80:1180:8095:957:F897:7E59 (talk) 17:57, 26 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

brought back?

edit

I'm not sure it's accurate to say it was taken off and brought back, it was basically a summer filler show, not sure the "show biz-ese" way of saying this, but I don't believe it was ever a regular weekly show during the regular season...— Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.72.215.225 (talkcontribs) 14:37, 15 September 2006

I remember watching it Friday nights at 8PM during the second season. It did air weekly in the summer if that is what you mean.

On the article page it says "There are rumors that Fox has asked for 8 new episodes to be created. (APRIL 2006)". What is the source for this? I haven't heard anything about this. <==== That information is pure false.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.36.178.119 (talkcontribs) 23:33, 21 February 2007

Fifth Season

edit

Is it true that a fifth season is under production for 2009?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.152.138.76 (talkcontribs) 22:29, 28 August 2008

The "new season" article should be removed. The original writer did not cite a source. In addition I couldn't find anything

on Google regarding a new season. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.181.32.146 (talkcontribs) 04:01, 17 October 2008

Do not re-write the "new season" article. Unless you have a credible source.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.181.32.146 (talkcontribs) 18:34, 17 October 2008

Youtube

edit

"On websites like Youtube, Beyond Belief episodes of all seasons are on there, but you have to type in "BBFF", not "BBFB".". Is this content on Youtube legal and should Wikipedia link to it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.159.97.2 (talk) 12:38, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Whoo!

edit

Spooky..... Did a doll come to life and did that dog come back from the grave? Who is the mysterious black figure that haunts the graveyards? Did a girl that was dead really save her best friend? You'll find out on this show of beyond belief fact or fiction... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.11.38.136 (talk) 17:13, 24 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Popularity and cancellation & Syndication and DVD release in Germany

edit

As also stated in the article, Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction was (and is) broadcasted in Germany (and Austria) as "X-Factor: Das Unfassbare".
Most likely inspired by that name resp. the "cult following", different shows in Germany used the "X-Factor" part of the title:

Original English name German name (Rough) English translation
Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction X-Factor: Das Unfassbare
(commonly known as simply X-Factor, not to be confused with the castingshow X Factor)
X-Factor: The Incomprehensible/Intangible/inconceivable/etc.
The Paranormal Borderline X-Factor: Die fünfte Dimension
X-Factor: Die 5. Dimension (logo)
X-Factor: The Fifth/5th Dimension
(German show) X-Factor: Wahre Lügen X-Factor: True Lies
Scariest Places on Earth X-Factor: Die wahre Dimension der Angst X-Factor: The True/Real Dimension of Fear

Furthermore:

  • The 4th season was released on DVD in Germany in September 2006
  • Some episodes (maybe just in some reruns) got cut.
  • In 2012 (Beyond Belief is broadcasted since 1998 in Germany) the de:Kommission für Jugendmedienschutz (KJM) noted that X-Factor is not suitable for children under 12 years. Sources/References: 1 (DWDL), 2 (SB), 3 (KJM)

Das Unfassbare

edit

The translation for "unfassbar" is rather "inconceivable" than "unfathomable" imho. Also the latter isnt really common, is it? KhlavKhalash (talk) 19:24, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
