Creditable Source tells me "Loraine" should be Lorraine

edit

The Pioneering Women in Architecture has a recently published article spelling it as Lorraine. See https://pioneeringwomen.bwaf.org/beverly-lorraine-greene I wrote to them and among other things they sent me an image in Green's own handwriting from the registrar at Columbia University spelled with two 'Rs' They are endeavoring to get this cleaned up where ever it is mispelled on the internet." Anyone have any objections to my fixing this in Wikipedia? Fothergilla (talk) 22:42, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Fothergilla just move the page leaving a redirect and cite your source for the change in the article. Totally not uncommon to have various spellings, but we should clearly use her own spelling. I am out of pocket this week, but if you need me to help you move the page, just leave me a message on my page and I'll try to find time to do it. SusunW (talk) 17:04, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Proof of correct spelling of BLG's middle name

edit

In correspondence with the people responsible for Pioneering Women in American Architecture, I learned that Roberta Washington, author of the recent BLG profile there, contacted the Columbia Universisty Registrar's office and received a fax confirming her graduation from that institution in BLG's own handwriting from 3/8/1945. Greene spelled her middle name with 2 "Rs". I have corrected this throughout the article, but to replace the title the article will need to be moved.

Ms. Washington writes in email, "Lorraine is spelled with ‘rr’ - although you are right: it is all over the internet that way. All wrong. Since there was nothing on Beverly Greene on the internet prior to my bio being published in Dreck’s book <fothergilla-this refers to Dreck Spurlock Wilson the key reference in this article>, I am sure that the misspelling is based on the fact that the name was misspelled in the book - and people copied it (One of the confirmations of the correct spelling is the fax I received from Columbia University confirming that she graduated from Columbia)." @susunW, I wasn't sure how to use the cite report template for the Columbia item. It is basically a scan of a registration form (i.e., a sheet of paper or maybe a 3 x % card) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fothergilla (talkcontribs) 20:48, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
