A fact from Betty Go-Belmonte appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 30 September 2014 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
The following Wikipedia contributor has declared a personal or professional connection to the subject of this article. Relevant policies and guidelines may include conflict of interest, autobiography, and neutral point of view.

I have contacted our enterprising editor on this article about COI and the GA review. Urging him to declare COI and to do more work on the article, I think it can be improved. But at present it does not meet GA status. – S. Rich (talk) 06:22, 29 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
True, the topic is interesting and worthwhile. But the creator has a conflict of interest and has nominated it for Good Article status. The motivation for GA status is suspect because it gilds the lily. The classification of B is much too generous. It barely meets C class. Please look at WP:WikiProject Biography/Assessment#Quality scale for more information. – S. Rich (talk) 23:59, 6 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
S. Rich, since Lawrence ruiz deleted the GA nominee template with this edit even as he incorrectly removed your GAR section above, I'm reinstating his removal. As you note, the article is not yet of GA caliber, and with a backlog of 486 unreviewed GA nominations, it makes no sense to retain the nomination. (It's also nominated in the wrong category, but that's not particularly relevant since it's being removed.) I do have a question about the photo's provenance: the info on Commons gives the date of the photo as the upload date or scan date (August 15, 2014) when it should be the date the photo was taken. Obviously, as Betty Go-Belmonte died in 1994, the photo has to have been taken before then, and that needs to be correctly documented on Commons. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:47, 21 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
