Help needed edit

I have removed the sentence Those victims succeeding the first were called ἔφεδροι, until the last who was termed ἔχατοι. because it doesn't make sense. Will someone reword it, please? BlueValour 22:58, 24 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

the term gladiator referred specifically to one who fought other men edit

also, a gladiator is someone who fights with a gladius (short sword) which is probably not a weapon with which wild animals were confronted. 2A01:CB0C:CD:D800:FC15:E9B0:532B:DDD9 (talk) 15:07, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

lavatory sponges edit

it is not altogether clear whether Seneca is being sarcastic; a Latinist might be able to help out here. These sponges were used to clean one's hind quarters following defecation, so Seneca may not have been entirely facetious on this point.2A01:CB0C:CD:D800:FC15:E9B0:532B:DDD9 (talk) 15:10, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
