Is he alive? edit

My opinion is Yes, but i haven't studied our record on promptly reflecting deaths. Here's what i do know:

  • He is now 79 y.o.
  • On Sept. 14, 2016 a reliable-sounding source wrote about him in present tense; from then
  • until a January 8, 2017 scheduled closing, an institution had scheduled an event that at least revolved around his work (tho not clear whether his involvement was to include his daily or weekly live presence). They're closed for renovations since that date, with, at this moment, next exhibit scheduled to open
  • on April 20, 2017; so there may be an especially low likelihood of noting, before they reopen, a death that occurs in that period.

On the bright side, it's hard to imagine they wouldn't have commented on his death occurring

  • before Jan. 8 (or perhaps even on that day); and i'd also guess his odds of living another year or more are good, if he was vigorous enuf that they intended for him to be present weekly or daily during the show.

A better reason to believe he continues to fl. is that he's been given good ink by the NYT (in the context of the show opening, and again Jan. 4 & 5 for his Web site and newly reviewed book): i'd anticipate they will manage to publish an obit promptly when he does die.
