Instead of reading like, "Gudden was a respected psychiatrist in Germany and was appointed personal physician to King Ludwig II of Bavaria.", perhaps it should read something like "Gudden was a respected psychiatrist in Germany and was appointed to be a nonconsensual personal physician to King Ludwig II of Bavaria." in order to reflect the apparent reality better.
