History
editDoes anyone know about the produtcion history? The plot is obviously not really finished after the 10 episodes. Was the show canceled? Why? --AndreasPraefcke (talk) 12:36, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
As an American who watches Downton Abbey, some forms of address in this BBC TV series appears to be wrong. As I understand, Earl Lamson-Scribener should not be addressed as "Lord George Lamson-Scribener" as he is an earl, not a younger son of a duke or marquess. He should be addressed as "Lord Lamson-Scribener".
Also, Countess Lamson-Scribener should not be addressed as "Lady Constance Lamson-Scribener" as she is a countess, not a daughter of a duke, marquess or earl. She should be addressed as "Lady Lamson-Scribener".
In addition, Lord Hugh Lamson-Scribener, is the oldest son of an earl. He is not a younger son of a duke or marquess. Therefore, he should not be addressed as "Lord Hugh". He should use a subsidiary title of his father, as a courtesy title.
Lastly, the Duke of Wilton, should not be referred to as "Lord Wilton". He should be addressed as "Duke" or "Your Grace/His Grace".Trajanis (talk) 12:32, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
