Mention the polar bear attack at Kingikmiut School? edit

"On January 17, 2023, a polar bear fatally attacked a 24-year-old mother and her 1-year-old boy just outside the Kingikmiut School in Wales, Alaska during a snowstorm. The attack prompted the school to go into lockdown as staff attempted to scare off the bear away from the school with shovels. The bear stopped mauling its victims only to turn on the staff members, who then retreated back into the school. School principal Dawn Hendrickson closed the door behind the fleeing staff members before the bear could make its way inside, potentially saving lives of the students and staff inside. A member of community later shot the bear, killing it. The bear had chased other members of the community before the fatal attack in front of the school." - Quote from a draft article

Kingikmiut Schools falls under the jurisdiction of Bering Strait School District, and it seemed to me it could be fitting to mention it briefly in this article. RaskBunzzz (talk) 08:02, 23 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
