Proposed change of name edit

Berber is the common English-language name, and is used as per WP:COMMONNAME. To change it, first present reliable sources that indicate that the scope of "Amazigh" is exactly the same as that of "Berber" and then develop a talk page consensus for change. Then changes would need to be made at each of the various articles, not first at this dab page. I have reverted the changes here. DES (talk) 18:33, 18 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Do you really want me to invole the Amazigh world congress onto wikipedia a group of over 150,000 followers? cause im sure they oppose the word Berber and Amazigh means Free Men Berber means Savage Berber is the medival arab corruption form of Barbar which means barbarian No Amazigh calls himself a berber not even there Arab Blood brothers call them that ArabAmazigh12 (talk) 18:45, 18 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

I want you to cite reliable English-language independent sources that say that the word "Amazigh" denotes the same people traditionally known in English as "Berbers". Then I want you to cite sources that show that the term "Amazigh" is actually used in reliable English-language sources in referring to this group with some frequency. Unless this is done, the names of Wikipedia articles are not likely to be changed as you wish, no matter how many people may try to insist on it. DES (talk) 20:37, 18 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Surnames edit

@Xezbeth: To be clear, I'm not reading the sentence at MOS:DABNAME that begins "For short lists of name holders" as though this were preceded by "Now, ignore the previous sentence and, instead ...". I'm understanding that these sublists are of names that conform to the first sentence. Largoplazo (talk) 10:35, 23 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
