Benzal chloride is not benzoyl chloride edit

Why does Benzal chloride redirect here? Benzal chloride is not benzoyl chloride, it is α,α-dichlorotoluene or 1,1-dichloromethylbenzene, Ph-CHCl2. Someone please revert this redirection.--84.163.105.71 02:50, 26 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I flagged Benzal chloride, but I don't know enough about it to write a new article. I hope flagging is the correct action to take in this case. Dunric 04:38, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Looks like there's a full separate article now! Walkerma (talk) 05:09, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

C7H5ClO and C6H5COCl are just different ways of writing the formula. The first lists each element count (using the Hill system of ordering), the second gives some indication of chemical structure: C6H5 for phenyl, then CO for carbonyl, then chloride. Both indicate seven carbon atoms. ChemNerd (talk) 20:29, 2 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Fixed today one instance of C7H5COCl which fell between the two stools! Captain Pedant (talk) 13:20, 6 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

What's the systematic name for this molecule? edit

Is it a phenylcarboxyl chloride? Adwctamia (talk) 16:48, 27 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
