Bengali language Movement (North Dinajpur)2018 West Bengal Bengali teacher appointment protest – Hello, I think the article title should be 2018 West Bengal Bengali teacher appointment protest, as nowhere in the article it is described as a language movement, rather it was a protest related to appointing a teacher. It does not seem to be a language movement. None of the references cited in this article, and also the web and news articles which can be found on the web mention it as a language movement. I feel we may follow the Bengali article naming here, please see bn:২০১৮ দাঁড়িভীট বিদ্যালয়ে বাংলা শিক্ষক নিয়োগ আন্দোলন, which is roughly translated as "2018 Daribhit Bengali teacher appointment protest" or "2018 West Bengal Bengali teacher appointment protest". আফতাবুজ্জামান (talk) 20:40, 13 October 2018 (UTC) --Relisted.  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  01:25, 24 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Support as per English-language titles & WP:TITLE This incident Notable for Islampur Firing after protest, English Media Start Discussion after Firing. I agree to rename but not this titles "2018 Daribhit Bengali teacher appointment protest" or "2018 West Bengal Bengali teacher appointment protest". @Bongan: ok, can you suggest something for name? আফতাবুজ্জামান (talk) 13:18, 14 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
May be "Islampur incident", "Police firing in Islampur" or "Islampur firing" or may be other user give better suggestion. Bongan® →TalkToMe← 06:26, 15 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Relist comment. Came here from the requested move backlog page with the thought of closing this request; however, I don't think it can be closed until some issues are understood. The nom basically raises the question, "What does this incident have to do with the Bengali Language Movement in India? or the Bengali Language Movement?" If the author has a way of connecting this sad situation to the BLM, then that does need to be done, to include mention about this protest in one or the other of the BLM articles. Smaller and yet important issues include English cleanup of this article, especially the lead section, and "language" in the title should lead with a capital letter, "Language", to be consistent with the main BLM article. If this violent protest has nothing to do with the Bengali Language Movement, then yes, this article needs to be moved to an as yet unagreed upon title.  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  01:21, 24 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bengali language Movement (North Dinajpur) and particularly my merge and redirect suggestion there. What we eventually need is an article, probably at Bengali Language Movement (now a redirect), merging the valid content from several articles on related topics all of which need work. Opposed WP:NOTNEWS edit

As per WP:NOTNEWS tag four points are needed to check and for that cases No. 3: “Who's who” and No. 4: “A diary” not applicable here. Anyways first two are also not relevant here because,

1. Original reporting - This is not original reporting, as this is already published by several reliable news providers in West Bengal, at all-India level and also in Bangladesh. Questioning on Times of India, Telegraph, Anandabazar Patrika is ridiculous.

2. Enduring notability - Leading Indian Newspaper covered the Derivit Case immediately and even after two weeks and more. Followed Links may help to ensure enduring notability. Sept 21 Sept 23 Sept 26 27 sept Oct 1 Oct 4 Oct 5 And many more. So enduring notability should not be questioned.

3. Who's who - Not applicable

4. A Diary - Not applicable

So WP:NOTNEWS tag should be removed and protect from the red eye. Thanks. শক্তিশেল (talk) 17:28, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
