Daisies?

edit

From reading this article, I get the impression that Bellis are all types of daisies. If that's correct, it would be a very helpful thing to add to the article.-- Laura S | talk to me 16:58, 29 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

It says they have "have radiate flower heads", which is clear if one knows what that means, but not clear to most people - I would guess. It would be usefully if you added more information to the page, since information is very sparse right now. Hardyplants (talk) 17:10, 29 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Other species

edit

There is also:

  • Bellis majoricensis Gand. (see here).
  • Bellis margaritifolia Huter (see here).

We should add them to the list of the Bellis species. Thank you. --DrFO.Jr.Tn (talk) 20:18, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Are you sure they are currently valid species? I see that the specimens were collected and named well over 100 years ago. Hardyplants (talk) 20:28, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the fast reply. I think you can check them here.--DrFO.Jr.Tn (talk) 20:45, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
The problem with the IPNI site is that it just records plant names that were given but does not tell us if they are still or were ever valid species (some plant species have been give over fifty different names). I do not hvae any sources for plants from that part of the world. The place to search would be an "official" list of species prepared by botanists from the region. I wish I could be more helpful. Here is another list: [1] and those names do not show up. Hardyplants (talk)

B. annua subspecies

edit

The list on the page include two B. annua subspecies -

Bellis annua subsp. microcephala

Bellis annua subsp. minuta

They have their own pages as tiny stubs.

I'm not convinced it's practical for them to have their own pages as the subspecies differences are best stated in a single line (for each) on the B. annua page, which I've done as best I had information for them.
