Please remove the part where it says that Bell was founded by Ian H. Crocker. I went to high school with him and he bragged a couple years ago about putting that "fact" on this site. Here is a link to his facebook page as proof... http://www.facebook.com/psychohazyjesus Piper77 (talk) 20:55, 25 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Done - I have no idea whose facebook page that is, and no interest in looking, since it is not relevant - but the "fact" is utterly unreferenced, and I can find nothing in a search except content scraped from here - so I removed it, along with some undue content, and some promotional content. If somebody can reference it, it can be replaced.Begoontalk 04:01, 26 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Bell, Florida shootings

Don Spirit, a convicted felon and resident of Bell, killed six of his grandchildren (including an infant), his adult daughter and himself in a rampage at a home in Bell, Florida, on September 18, 2014. When a deputy arrived, Spirit committed suicide and authorities then found the seven gunshot victims all over on the property. During a news conference on on September 19, 2014, Gilchrist County Sheriff Robert Schultz said Spirit was not a legal gun owner and wasn't on community control at the time of the shootings.

According to an online story in 2003 by the Orlando Sentinel, Spirit pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the fatal shooting of his 8-year-old son, Kyle, in a 2001 hunting accident. He was sentenced to three years in prison and was emotional about the shooting at his hearing. The story said that on a walk through the woods with Kyle and an older son, Spirit pointed out rust on the muzzle of his rifle. The rifle fired, hitting Kyle in the head, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office. Spirit was convicted in 1998 for felony possession of marijuana, according to a charging affidavit.

Semi-protected edit request on 7 April 2015 edit

Hello, I would like to request for the part about Ex-convict Don Spirit to please be removed. This situation has nothing to do with the actual history of the town of Bell. Yes, this may have been a big event for such a small town, but it is not relevant to the history of Bell. Thank you!
