Moves edit

This page should not have been moved. --E tac 05:11, 15 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've just swapped the histories at Believer (band) and Believer (music), per a move request listed at WP:RM#Uncontroversial proposals. I believe the more comprehensive history is at the current title (Believer (band)), but there may be edits at the other location that have been incorporated into the current article. -GTBacchus(talk) 08:22, 15 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oppose move to just believer itself. There needs to be some sort of parenthetical disambiguation because the majority of people are going to think of a faith adherent rather then an obscure Christian rock band. 205.157.110.11 00:32, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

But currentley there is no page for a "faith adherent". So rather than placing a redirect from believer to belief, a link could be placed to belief on the page. --E tac 08:49, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oppose, I think there's a reasonable need to disambiguate between Believer (band) and the various entries at The Believer. PC78 15:49, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Then a disambig page should be created at believer, not a redirect to belief. --E tac 20:08, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nevermind I see it has been done.--E tac 20:10, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

And now it's redirected to Believe, which is a dab page for all things called "Believe", "Belief", "Believer", "The Believer", "Believers", etc. -GTBacchus(talk) 06:02, 18 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Class of article edit

I think the class of this article is above start and stub class. Someone should change that to reflect that. I love Believer (even if I'm a non-believer, excuse my pun)! Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:55, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

All righty, rated B-class. --Azure Shrieker (talk) 20:48, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. The article deserved it. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:28, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Death metal edit

This article has a mention in the beginning that Believer played (among other styles) death metal. I most heartily disagree. Thrash? Yes. Progressive? Yes. Avant-garde? Yes. But I don't believe they ever played death metal. I do see that they played with a number of 'ddeath metal bands, but I don't believe death metal has ever been a part of their style. Also, if anyone can tell me, is Bolt Thrower Christian? Not that it really matters, but that's pretty cool they played with Bolt Thrower and usually Christian bands only perform with other Christian bands. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 18:59, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

You are correct, Believer never played death metal. I remember reading somewhere that in late 1980s the band was actually labeled death metal by some metal fans. Scott Waters wrote something about why some people called Believer death metal in their No Life itil Metal page but seems he has removed that part. In think it was something about the harsh sound and vocal style of the Extraction from Mortality style that reminded some early music writers and fans of Death and other early death metal bands, as back then the death metal sound was closer to thrash. Something like that :-). I remember he disagreed with the death metal tag too, but mentioned to have seen some eBay sellers to label the first album as "death metal" too. As for the article mentioning "a hybrid mixture of death, thrash, and progressive metal," that seems to be a direct quote from a published Christian music encyclopedia. I do not really agree with the "death metal" part, but if it is backed with a book quote, I would just leave it be. No, Bolt Thrower are not Christian, and yes, it is definitely cool that Believer played with them. I would like to see more talented Christian metal bands play secular venues.--Azure Shrieker (talk) 21:11, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
So you would reccomend doing nothing? Even though numerous sources would not describe their sound as death? I mean any number of reliable sources could be found calling them thrash, etc. and would not mention death metal. I think it would be okay to omit the death part, but I will wait to see your thoughts. I agree that it would be good to see bands of any religious affiliation play along secular bands. Though I must admit I have not heard a lot of good, lyrically Christian metal bands. Except Believer. But then there's plenty of time for me to discover more. Personally, it's music to me. I don't really care what views they espouse as far as religion is concerned. As long as its badass and the music is good. Believer excels in both of these. I'm waiting to hear their new stuff. I keep thinking it'll probably be bad. So many metal bands sell out and change their sound (in a bad more mainstream way) and I don't think Christian bands are an exception. We'll see, though. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:17, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I take my words back on the doing nothing part. By all means, if the majority of the available and reliable sources state that the band does not even have death metal elements, then of course the description should be modified. All Music Guide lists these tags for Believer: "Heavy Metal, Christian Metal, Progressive Metal, Thrash."[1] I'd say that qualifies for removing the "death metal" part. Also looking forward to the new stuff. Say, if you like Believer and are open-minded, you might like Extol's albums Burial, Undeceived and Synergy, and Drottnar's Welterwerk. Easily some of the more appreciated Christian metal stuff among non-Christians. Technical and talented stuff for sure. --Azure Shrieker (talk) 23:35, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Alright. Yeah, I'm open-minded. Music is music to me. It's good or it's not. Alright, I will if I can. I haven't been getting any new music lately as I've been so busy. There's still so much to listen to, though! It's inasne to think of all the good stuff out there that I haven't listened to yet. I know there's so much. Symphonic Metal? edit

It seems to me that Believer could be appopriately called a Symphonic Metal band. Is there some reason it should not be? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.218.84.25 (talk) 14:42, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
