@Brigade Piron: Re [1] if I understand correctly, this article is about the forces at the start of the war, but commons:Category:World War I forces of Belgium covers the whole war, is that right? That Commons category is linked to Category:Belgian military personnel of World War I, which seems more relevant (but not quite a 100% match). I don't think it's helpful to link to that Commons category from this article (and none of the other orders of battle articles linked in the 'see also' section have commons category), but perhaps there's scope for creating a new Commons category that does match this article, if there isn't already a suitable category in commons:Category:Belgium in World War I. Mike Peel, it is certainly true that commons:Category:World War I forces of Belgium covers the whole war rather than 1914 alone although the vast majority of the images within it are necessarily of the 1914 campaigns. The content of this article is rather more expansive than the other "orders of battle" ones you mention. Category:Belgian military personnel of World War I is basically a holdings category for biographies of war veterans and is not very relevant. I guess it would be possible to balkanise "World War I forces of Belgium" into "World War I forces of Belgium in 1914, 1915 etc." but I'm not sure that would be terribly helpful either. —Brigade Piron (talk) 12:36, 19 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Brigade Piron: Thanks for the reply and sorry for the slow follow-up. Looking at it again, I've created commons:Category:Belgian military personnel of World War I to match Category:Belgian military personnel of World War I, and I've linked this article against commons:Category:World War I forces of Belgium for now, which resolves the mismatch issue that led to my edit, but may change in the future. 2nd Division edit

My grandfather was a private in the 8th regiment of the line which was part of the 2nd Division (Antwerp). He was from Antwerp. In this article the 8th regiment of the line is associated with the 4th Division which was a French speaking unit in Wallonia. My grandfather's regiment was Flemish speaking although senior officers tended to be French speaking. I have documents showing he is a member of the 8th regiment of the line and he was definitely part of the Antwerp (2nd) Division. JPDeG (talk) 02:34, 3 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
