Pronounciation

edit

It would greatly help the article (and me) to have a pronounciation guide. I know enough to know that while it looks like "Ben Bray"; it isn't. Cheers!--Phyllis1753 (talk) 17:38, 16 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Found something here [1] which has it as "ban vreeagh". --Phyllis1753 (talk) 17:50, 16 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

First Montessori School in Canada

edit

It is noteworthy that the first ever Montessori school in Canada was located at Beinn Bhreagh in 1912. It was instigated by Mabel Bell after she visited the first American Montessori school in Tarrytown, NY, in 1911. She was so impressed by what she saw that she hired a trained Montessorian, Roberta Fletcher, to start up a Montessori classroom at Beinn Bhreagh in July, 1912. There were approximately 12 students including several of the Bell grandchildren. The school was relocated, along with Miss Fletcher and four of Bell's grandchildren, to the Bell home in Washington D.C. at 1330 Connecticut Ave. in October, 1912. Anne George, who had trained in Rome under Maria Montessori, was the Montessori Directress at the Washington school with Ms. Fletcher acting as her assistant. One year later, this school found a permanent home in Washington D.C. at 1840 Kalorama Road. Mabel Bell remained very involved with the Montessori Movement for several years, serving as the president of the Montessori Educational Association.
