Local Farming Industry? edit

Beaumont is suburban, and the only farming industry is in Cherry Valley. Most people work in the Inland Empire or L.A. areas, not as farmers. - signed by an anon IP

Of course, the mainstay of agriculture such as cherry orchards, apple trees and citrus groves lies to the north in Cherry Valley. Rapid growth, suburban sprawl and more developed land in the last 3 decades has made Beaumont and nearby Banning into exurbs. The area is very scenic, a geophysical pass route between the San Bernardino and San Jacinto mountains with the San Gorgonio peak facing northward, is now covered with intense levels of smog and a total of 150 days of stage-2 "smog alerts", plus 20-30 days of stage-3 in year 2006. The consequences of suburban sprawl and endless development in Beaumont-Banning has generated crime problems and unaffordable housing. + 71.102.10.169 (talk) 22:39, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
The subsection on diversity of many races and cultures evident in Beaumont was removed, due to being more unreferenced than referenced, just like the Banning article. The town founders of Beaumont and Banning advertised land deals for European immigrant settlers, the top countries of origin was Italy and Switzerland, as well a transplanted colony of Scots from Scotland. Since the 1920's, Beaumont had a large Hispanic/Latino population who were employed as traqueros (railroad workers) and agricultural laborers. + 71.102.3.86 (talk) 00:42, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Need help for resources to verify edit edit

<<West of Beaumont is Rancho San Timoteo, once a flourishing agricultural Native American community claimed to be Serrano Indians acquired farming techniques from the Spanish in the early 1800s. Although most of their farmland was transformed into affluent homes, the 100-some "members" not quite recognized a tribal nation, due to official regulations and ethnological data mistook them as "Spaniards" in the late 1800s, are in conflict for state or federal recognition. [citation needed]>>

I read it up on a Santa Fe Bank regional history booklet: Guideposts to history of San Bernardino county, although the community is located in Riverside county. There aren't enough resources and my attempts to find Rancho San Timoteo didn't cover the topic of Native American residents that live there today. Interesting to note the Serranos and Cahuillas already had cultivated native and introduced crops; fruits, grains and vegetables, but began to produce large-scale farms and ranches in the Spanish-Mexican era (1776-1850). If any fellow Wiki have great local history resources on this subject, please send or leave them in the talk page. thanks! +Mike D 26 12:37, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I had removed the edit on Serrano Indians, because it awaits the citation needed for sources to back it up. You may restore the edit after you're able to study and please go to Google/AOL search engine for web sites on "guideposts to history of SBDO/Riverside". Santa Fe National Bank was out of business I think in the 1990s. I narrowed down the edit on ethnic diversity in Beaumont. Agreeable, but didn't need to sound redundant. You ever tested edits before they are implanted in Wikipedia articles? 207.200.116.199 06:18, 3 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Future section edit

The future section is an absolute mess. It doesn't make sense at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.175.75.241 (talk) 05:31, 17 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
