Haunted? edit

If the show Most Haunted Live was there, presumably the place is thought to be haunted. Who or what by? Badbilltucker 20:06, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The abbey's official site (http://www.beaulieu.co.uk/beaulieuabbey/ghosts.cfm) lists there being four ghost legends at the site. Perhaps a little something about this folklore could be added and the reference to the ephemeral TV show deleted? Soph 20:31, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

William Russell edit

In his 1856 ‘Tales of the Coast Guard’, this statement occurs at the beginning of the smuggler yarn of ‘Esther Purkis’:

Those who, in the days when I was employed in the neighbourhood, had occasion to visit Beaulieu Abbey, in the New Forest, a few miles inland from Hythe — and now, I believe, perhaps then, the property of the Scottish Dukes of Buccleuch — may remember the garrulous old portress who showed the apartments wherein Margaret of Anjou sought and found refuge during some perilous crisis of her changeful fortunes…

Now, is there this connection with the Dukes, or Margaret? There is nothing in the article. Research needed. 2601:647:5800:7D80:B143:9D00:E308:4439 (talk) 08:21, 26 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
