I have removed the following passage. The introduction states the film is "losely adapted from the novel" which, really, suffices. If someone feels strongly that the differences between the source text and the adaptation are notable, they are welcome to write a lucid summary of the changes, but the entry as it stood was ludicriously unencyclopaedic! 125.255.164.41 (talk) 02:31, 9 December 2013 (UTC)vonhangman125.255.164.41 (talk) 02:31, 9 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Differences from novel

edit

The order of events is altered in a way that... a la Hollywood... you can see a battle ending... completely subverting the original tale. But also the names and characters... no one having read the novel would follow the movie plot without a regret... no Raoul d'Auray de Redon (great in the novel)... but also a much subdued Otis Vanbrugh one of the most underrated heroes of novels... the Zaguig insurrection is a must read in itself (here propelled to the end of the film to have a final battle!). This entry is about the movie but someone should start one about the novel!

Disambiguation

edit

Added this page: Beau Ideal (disambiguation), should it be included in this article? Reason I have not done it myself is that it looks a bit ??? (some word)... as the phrase is used as a synonym for beauty and the only other ref. on the disambiguation page is the novel, which is also mentioned in this article, it becomes somewhat redundant. The definition and use of the phrase should perhaps be incorporated in this article instead? Have seen it used as a phrase in a few places. Warumwarum (talk) 15:57, 28 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
