Article should explain DNA assimilation

As linked to at the bottom of the article (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Organisms-Gave-up-Sexual-Reproduction-for-DNA-Theft-86940.shtml), the bdelliods have a really cool and odd substitute for sex; this really should be explained in the article better than I can do at this hour of the night. Actually, yes sex.

At a recent talk at McGill (just this last Monday, May 27, 2013), the very same Matthew Meselson presented evidence that Bdelloids do in fact have sex, despite the fact that nobody has observed it. These organisms are tetraploid. Multiple individuals were shown to have have homeologous chromosomes with not similar, but identical, gene sequences in several loci. The likelihood of this occurring as a consequence of randomly incorporating foreign DNA particles is exceptionally low. So, from this data, Dr. Meselson concludes: yes, these organisms have sex. But a particular kind of sex, in which random assortment of genes is not the order of the day, but instead parental chromosomes are segregated with other parental chromosomes during reproduction.

I'm planning on giving this page an update over the next weeks as a coursework piece - suggestions are of course welcome. The update will be posted by the 27th March 2014.

I have now uploaded my update to this page. I hope it is informative and helpful to those that come looking for it. I have however tried to stay clear of any controversial and debated subjected in an attempt to make the page more factual rather than discussion.
