third-largest bauxite region edit

Currently the article states "Vietnam holds the world's third-largest bauxite ore reserves in its Central Highlands", without specific source. Could it be stated who is making the assessment, and could mention of the two larger bauxite regions according to the source be given, at least in a footnote? This is a kind of broad claim that i think is problematic. The claim depends on how you define regions. Note, one could trivially claim that the rest of the world holds the largest bauxite reserves, and Vietnam holds the 2nd-largest, if the world is arbitrarily divided into just 2 regions. I expect the claim is meaningful, but more context needs to be given. Thanks! --doncram (talk) 12:43, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

The U.S. Geological Survey's 2009 report indicates that Vietnam has the third largest reserves and reserve base of bauxite. It looks as if the USGS based their estimates on information from the state mining company. Looks like Guinea and Australia have the largest reserves. I'll try to clean up the language to clarify the meaning. Gobonobo T C 01:01, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
