File:Kennesaw bombardment2.jpg to appear as POTD soon edit
Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Kennesaw bombardment2.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on June 27, 2011. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2011-06-27. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 18:29, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Union and Confederate Strengths edit
Are the force sizes given in the infobox correct? Livermore, Thomas Leonard (1900). Numbers and Losses in the Civil War in America, 1861-1865. Houghton, Mifflin and company. p. 120–121. cites 16,225 Union troops engaged, and 17,733 Confederate troops engaged. Bodart, Gaston (1908). Militär-historisches kreigs-lexikon, (1618-1905). Stern. p. 537. gives 18,000 Union and 6,000 Confederate. Both of these figures are well outside of what I would consider reasonable measurement error of the 95,000+ / 50,000 strengths currently in the infobox. Jrnold (talk) 18:36, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
- Good catch. The previous figures were actually of the total armies (which are listed in the units involved box), not the specific units engaged. Hal Jespersen (talk) 20:44, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
