Merge article into Faithfull Massacre edit

This article is a mis-naming of an incident known as the Faithfull Massacre. The argument as to whether it was a battle or killings is best addressed in the article not by mis-naming. 115.42.5.187 (talk) 02:08, 29 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

There's nothing to merge. The other page is simply a redirect with no meaningful history. You're looking to move the page. Given that your edits have demonstrated a very clear point of view that you're trying to push, I ask that you demonstrate that the current title is not the common name of the event. Alyo, You claim I have been "trying to push" a point of view. Yet, elsewhere, you claim you are not commenting on the content of the article or edits. As you claim I am pushing a line, be specific and detail that line. My edits have tried to adopt a neutral line, add details that clarify the facts and add references. You have merely reverted to hold to a line, with nothing useful to contribute. You overstepped when you removed referenced edits, references and the merger proposal. Your excessive edits suggest your real intent is to maintain particular content. A search of the term "Faithfull Massacre" turns-up numerous articles whereas a search of the term "Battle of Broken River" turns-up only the mis-named Wikipedia page and its clones. Even Richard Bloome's 2016 revisionist history book, The Colonial Experience: The Port Phillip District 1834-1860, which gave rise to the suggestion that the killings were a "battle" referred to the incidents as the "Faithfull Massacre" because that is what the killings have been known as since the 1838 Police report titled "Faithfull Massacre". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.42.5.187 (talk) 04:39, 29 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Alyo, It was your challenge to "demonstrate that the current title is not the common name of the event", yet all of the references in the article refer to the event as the "Faithfull Massacre" or in one case, "Massacre of Faithfull's party". Nine of the eleven references do not refer to the event as a battle and the author of the most referenced source specifically denies it was a battle. Five of the references use "Faithfull Massacre" in their title. Dutchy85 was the creator of both the Battle of Broken River and Faithfull Massacre articles, created within a minute of each other with the Faithfull Massacre article created as a redirect to Battle of Broken River, so even the creator of the Wikipedia Battle of Broken River article was aware the event was well known as the "Faithfull Massacre" and their choice of which to make an article and which to make a redirect appears a highly dubious POV. I suggest that "Faithfull Massacre" is the common name of the event. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.42.5.187 (talk) 05:55, 29 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

User Alyo deleting references edit

This user persistently reverts articles deleting referenced edits and references. There is no justification for deleting references. If this user (editor would be a mis-description) had something useful to contribute, they would add it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.42.5.187 (talk) 03:53, 29 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
