Changed the wording of "rebel" to Confederate to be less biased. --Dan

I try to avoid both Rebel and Yankee, which occur frequently in the NPS text on which many of these articles are based. In this case, I think saying "(Confederate)" is redundant anyway. Hal Jespersen 14:07, 24 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Deleted the sentence about unnamed "historians" (whoever they might be) believing that African-American soldiers were not slaughtered at the battle. The book "Confederate Rage, Yankee Wrath" by George S. Burkhardt quotes eyewitnesses and statements by Confederate soldiers confirming the atrocity. Battle of Brices Cross RoadsBattle of Brice's Cross Roads – This page was moved from Brice's to Brices after a requested move discussion initiated by me in which there were no other participants. At the time I believed the name of the battle and the preserved battlefield should be the same and defer to the National Park Service. However, I now see that the Park Service is simply following the designation of Congress (without the apostrophe) and most scholarly sources use the apostrophe [1]. This is analogous to the case of Battle of Moore's Creek Bridge and Moores Creek National Battlefield. I think moving back to the form with the apostrophe is pretty clearly appropriate, but given the previous uncertainty about the name I am erring on the side of an RM discussion. • Support I think it is appropriate to add the apostrophe, Wikipedia, like a real world encyclopedia, would favor the scholarly and academic names of the subject. On top of this, books discussing the Battle of Brice's Cross Roads use the apostrophe. As such I think it is wise to change the name while also noting the designation as per the National Park Service. Sanctusune (talk) 06:02, 2 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
