Facts

Hi there. I've read this article and it has an enormous (that's it) amount of inconsistencies and plain mistakes. Lots of them. I'll name only a few:

—First of all, there was no other ships in Marín's fleet but the Miramón, the Marqués and a sloop. There's no record of any other ship than those ones. Also, Marín's military record also doesn't say a word about his initiative on getting some boats. That was president Miramon's direct order.

—Marín was not a Rear Admiral, since that rank didn't exist in Mexican navy. He was a Jefe de escuadra (squad chief) and, also, a general. Full data here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/22932705/tomas-marin

—By the way, as you might see in paper that appears in the link I just wrote, there's no 'Tomás M. Marín'. His full name was Tomás Francisco de Paula Marín Sabalza. —The article is highly biased. The battle that is told there actually never happened. The Marqués and the Miramón were assaulted by US crews. Also, the Marqués neither tried to escape nor fired as is said in the article. —Last but not least, Marín's crew and Arias' crew were not delivered to Mexican authorities. Ilegally, they were taken to New Orleans and tried as pirates. Hope this might help to correct the article. There was not such "Battle of Antón Lizardo". Two ships were assaulted in Mexican waters by some US ships. Mexicans didn't defend themselves and were defeated, arrested and robbed.Aruizi (talk) 04:46, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
