Is the term battering ram derrived from the root word for all these bat words? --SuperDude 04:03, 5 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Moving articles edit

  • I think that Battery should have the content in Battery (electricity) with a link at the top of the article to this disambiguation page. It is by far the most common usage. Also, there needs to be a disambiguation page, but some of the terms listed don't need disambiguation from "battery". The Metallica song and the band don't have articles, and Battery Park and battery farming don't have the same name as "battery". The two slang entries aren't as unnecessary, but most common things have a slang meaning, so I wouldn't make a disambiguation for them alone unless they were separate articles. -- Kjkolb 08:50, 19 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • I agree with all but the last sentence. even though most thisngs have a slang meaning we should still link to it. Ozone 00:12, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • I utterly disagree with such a move - the meaning of battery as a crime and a tort of violence has long preceded the current meaning, and is the predominant meaning to a large portion of the population (ask any attorney or police office). bd2412 T 00:42, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Most people are not lawyers or policemen. The majority of times the word "battery" is said, it means "electrical storage cell". The meaning "group of artillery guns" probably came because those guns all together beat (French battre) whatever they are shooting at. Leave the plain word as the disambig page. Two bands of same name edit

Well, there exists an american EBM band called 'battery' as well as the hardcore band.

There is a Requested Move discussion taking place at Battery (electricity), which would involve moving that article to this title, and the disambiguation page to Battery (disambiguation). Propaniac (talk) 16:46, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
