Why is this marked dubious? Is there contrary assertion of a larger Romanesque church? If so, should be provided. Otherwise the assertion of “dubious” is itself dubious. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.208.230.43 (talk) 08:08, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Largest Romanesque building in Europe? edit

With blogs, tourist information websites and the like, you can prove everything – especially superlatives about your favourite place. Here are three that say the Kaiserdom in Speyer is the largest Romanesque church: 1 2 3. I don't know which claim, if any, is correct, but I know you have to use more qualified sources (like scholarly books on architecture) for such claims.151.177.57.31 (talk) 22:43, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

This is because, although it is slightly larger than St. Sernin, Speyer Cathedral was largely destroyed and rebuilt. So it all depends on the degree of authenticity that one understands by "Romanesque church", which explains that both churches can claim this "distinction" of being the largest remaining Romanesque church. It should also be remembered that the abbey church in Cluny was much larger at the time. --Frédéric Neupont (talk) 09:54, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
