What unit is this?

edit

The article asserts that brown dwarves are "balls of hydrogen and helium with masses  ". Okay, fine, but what the heck is a  ? Megagram? Moon's mass? Some other (presumably large) amount of mass? Nibios (talk) 14:52, 9 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

the \odot symbol is the alchemical symbol for the sun, so one might infer that M subscript \odot signifies a solar mass. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.36.86.168 (talk) 19:48, 3 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Only half a decade late, but correct, that is the standard symbol for a solar mass. I've clarified. —Alex (Ashill | talk | contribs) 14:44, 18 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Is a black hole baryonic?

edit

Black holes should not be considered baryonic dark matter. There is no difference between a black hole made from WIMPs and a black hole made from hydrogen atoms. Zakbas (talk) 18:53, 16 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
